Art Club is for kids who love art! Lessons are designed for ages 5+. No previous experience with watercolor is necessary.

It will redirect you to a page where you can access all our lessons. I'll send you a new lesson every week via email.

We use the same simple materials each week to keep your life easy:

📋 Watercolor paper (2 per class)
🎨 Watercolor paint & brush
🌊 Cup of water, small towel
✏️ Pencil, eraser, sharpie, crayons
✂️ Scissors & tape (painters/masking)
🧂 Table salt & glue (sometimes)
✨ Two tablespoons of creativity

Each lesson starts with a creative warm up. I'll play a song on piano while you practice a technique of the day.

Next, we'll meet our subject: sometimes that takes us to a national park, other times we'll head back in time to meet a famous artist from history. Each week is a new adventure!

We spend the rest of class painting. You can follow along with me or see where your own inspiration takes you. Your painting doesn't have to look exactly like mine - and that's the fun part!

We end class with an art challenge - something for you to work on between now and next week - and a riddle. Can you guess what we're painting next week?

Here are some of the many skills that we will practice:

1. Wet-on-Wet: Applying paint to wet paper for soft, blended effects.
2. Wet-on-Dry: Applying paint to dry paper for sharper details.
3. Color Mixing: Learning primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.
4. Creating Gradients: Blending colors to create smooth transitions.
5. Brush Control: Practicing different strokes and pressure.
6. Layering: Applying transparent layers to build depth.
7. Water Control: Learning how water affects the intensity and flow of paint.
8. Lifting and Erasing: Using techniques to lighten or remove color.
9. Creating Textures: Using salt, sponges, or plastic wrap for unique effects.
10. Negative Space: Painting around objects to define them with the background.
11. Compositional Balance: Planning a well-balanced composition in a painting.
12. Nature Studies: Painting flowers, leaves, trees, or animals from observation.
13. Portraits: Simple portraiture with attention to skin tones and facial features.
14. Abstract Art: Encouraging free expression and exploration of abstract ideas.
15. Mixed Media Exploration: Combining watercolor with ink, crayon, or pencil.

Financial Need: I never want finances to get in the way of a great art education. If you need a partial scholarship for classes, reach out.
