Bluebird Band

Today, we're painting a band of singing blue birds! This lesson is a great chance to practice drawing action poses and painting with the w-o-w technique 🪺 🎶

Traceables in 3 Easy Steps

If drawing is hard for your learner, make a quick traceable! Traceables can help younger artists build fine motor skills and confidence.

1. Print it out

Choose a paper size that is slightly smaller than your watercolor paper.

2. Shade the back

Flip your traceable over and use a pencil to shade the back. When you hold your paper up to the light, you will be able to see the traceable on the other side.

Double check the back is fully shaded

3. Transfer to watercolor paper

Place your traceable on your watercolor paper with the scribbled side down. Firmly trace over the lines. When you remove the traceable, you will see a faint sketch has transferred over to your watercolor paper. This gives your learner a guide to draw over during class!

I loved naming my title The Rock'in Jazz Band! I think making the background all pink, blue,yellow, and a little splotchy was so fun! I love tapping my watercolor paintbrush, so that it makes splotches (or spots.) It was terrific! Thank you for teaching the class Ms.Lauren!
