Explorers of the Sea

Long ago, explorers set sail from the islands of Polynesia and navigated the seas for days on end without phones, GPS, compasses or maps. How did they do it?! In this adventure, we'll learn all about these incredible adventurers and the clues they looked for to find their way.

This lesson is a great chance to practice using crayons and painting the ocean 🌅

Traceables in 3 Easy Steps

If drawing is hard for your learner, make a quick traceable! Traceables can help younger artists build fine motor skills and confidence.

1. Print it out

Choose a paper size that is slightly smaller than your watercolor paper.

2. Shade the back

Flip your traceable over and use a pencil to shade the back. When you hold your paper up to the light, you will be able to see the traceable on the other side.

3. Transfer to watercolor paper

Place your traceable on your watercolor paper with the scribbled side down. Firmly trace over the lines. When you remove the traceable, you will see a faint sketch has transferred over to your watercolor paper. This gives your learner a guide to draw over during class!
